- Exercise regularly.
- Eat a healthy diet, low in salt and fat.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking.
- If overweight, try to lose a few pounds.
- Take medications appropriately.
- Check your blood pressure, pulse and weight routinely.
- Stay socially active.
- Get plenty of rest.
